Toshiba was founded in 1939 with the merger of Shibaura Engineering Works and Tokyo Electric, Toshiba started mass production or residential air conditioners in 1973. In 1999 Toshiba joined forced with Carrier to form one of the largest air conditioning companies in the world. Toshiba manufactures their air conditioners in China and Poland. Toshiba's website
